My friends frequently ask me what I do, where do I work and etc questions when we meet. And my simple answer is: I run some of the blogs. Are you making money from a blog? and etc. So each time, when my friends ask me about my job, I have to explain them all about the blog and it’s potential. So, later, I decided that I have to write all about it so that I could refer this post to them what blog and blog vs website, it’s potential and all related questions to blog.

In the beginning, it was difficult to start a blog since it requires some of the technical knowledge of the web such as HTML, CSS etc. And file transfer protocol to publish an article on the blog. But later it has been so easy to setup the blog within a minute thanks to many blogging CMS software. And WordPress has played the great role to set-up blog for nontechnical people within a minute.

History of Blog
On 17 December 1997, the term “weblog” was coined by Jorn Barger, an American blogger, best known as an editor of Robot Wisdom. The short form, “blog”, was coined by Peter Merholz, who jokingly broke the word weblog into the phrase we blog in the sidebar of his blog Peterme.com in April or May 1999. Shortly thereafter, Evan Williams at Pyra Labs used “blog” as both a noun and verb and devised the term “blogger” in connection with Pyra Labs’ Blogger product, leading to the popularization of the terms.

It is not difficult to understand what personal blog is. Such type of blog is run by a single person rather than a group of people and writes his/her passionate thing. Since it is a personal blog, this type of blog receives fewer visitors.
Sometimes it is essential to contribute in some of the contents by many authors to create an in-depth article. So, those blogs that published articles by more than a single authors is known as a Collaborative blog.
Since the evolution of social networking site, microblogging comes into practice. Microblogging refers to the practice of posting the message in a shorter form. And the message may be in the form of text, image, video etc.
Facebook, Twitter and other social networking website are the best examples of microblogging platform.
Any corporate has set their own blog which is either external or internal or both. The internal blog is dedicated to spreading the company news and make good communication among them. But external blog speaks what the company is doing.

A reverse blog is composed of its users rather than a single blogger. This system has the characteristics of a blog, and the writing of several authors. These can be written by several contributing authors on a topic or opened up for anyone to write. A web forum is one of the suitable examples of this type of blog.
Blogs vs Websites
A blog is basically a weblog that a blogger makes use for a chronological listing of blog posts. A blog has the most recent content shown first followed by the previously updated content.
